The great majority of Swedish military firearms have matching numbers. Troops operating from vehicles found the M96 too long and awkward to be practical, and the M94 was not available in great enough numbers given the number of weapons still required by the cavalry. The modification involved a slot machined on the nose cap and a stud sleeve attached to the barrel. admin A very cool little rifle with a total length of 95 cm, very small and handy. Very limited numbers were later produced with receiver dates of 1929 and more so 1932. The M/94's were the first of the Swedish Mausers and are chambered in 6.5x55mm. I'd like to get a sling for it the 94 is different than the other Swedes, so I'm not sure where to find one.

Most other parts have the last three figures of the serial number. The highest number so far noted is 113,150 dated 1932.

Swedish production continued sporadically until 1918. On my M96 the letters BF stand for The Fortress Police in Boden, Sweden.
